Before You Apply, Please Inform Yourself
Au pairs are typically young candidates (aged 18–30) who participate in a cultural exchange program by caring for the host family’s children. Their responsibilities often include teaching languages such as English, French, German, Russian, or Spanish, preparing meals, taking children to and from school, and assisting with basic household chores and shopping. Au pairs receive pocket money and spend most of their time with the family as a temporary family member.
On the other hand, nannies are professional childcare workers who receive a salary and provide comprehensive support to the household. They handle detailed household tasks, take care of all the needs of infants and children, and are formally employed as staff members of the household. There is no age restriction for the nannies.
Working as an au pair often comes with the challenge of defining and counting working hours. Since you are considered a part of the family, it is sometimes almost impossible to set strict limits on working time. As an au pair, you spend most of your time at home with the children, which means that your working hours may vary between 50 and 60 hours per week. Please note that this includes not only the time spent with the children but also assisting with household chores.

You need to be certain that you are ready to live in a foreign country and care for children. Ensure that you are fully committed to this experience and prepared to stay the course. If you are confident in your decision, you can proceed with your registration. Be aware that joining a new family can be challenging during the first few weeks. Adjusting to a different language, culture, and living with a new family and people may take time, similar to the experience of sharing a dorm room during your university years.

We work with several travel agencies that can assist you with booking flight tickets and visa arrangements, but we generally prefer that au pairs purchase their tickets independently but we offer dedicated support to secure your visa when there is a match with a host family.

Definitely yes, we do not accept host families who apply to our agency stating that they cannot provide a private room for an au pair or nanny.
That completely depends on the host family. Some families allow their au pairs to take Turkish language classes and cover the cost, while others say it is entirely the au pair’s choice and refuse to pay for the classes. When the host family refuses, the au pair needs to pay the classes by their own and attend the classes during their off days.
It is not necessary to speak Turkish before coming to Turkey as an au pair or nanny, but it is always an advantage to know a few basic words to communicate more easily with children who do not speak English at all.
How long it takes to find a host family in Turkey completely depends on your skills and experience. If you speak English well, have at least one year of childcare experience, are disciplined, hardworking, clear in your communication, hold a university diploma, have a driving license, know how to swim, and can play at least one musical instrument to teach a child, we can usually match you with a family within a maximum of three days. Otherwise, if you have fewer skills or less experience, it may take anywhere from one week to a month.
No need to panic or stress. We handle everything for you and your host family. Once you have spoken with your host family and are sure about leaving, we will try to match you with another host family. Please allow us at least two weeks to find a new host family for you, as well as a replacement au pair for your current host family.
There is a very low chance that host families are specifically looking for male au pairs, but as an au pair agency in Turkey, we do not restrict any candidates based on age, gender, race, or other personal characteristics.
We do not restrict any candidates based on age, gender, race, or other personal characteristics. Citizens of all countries are welcome in Turkey and at our agency. If you are well-educated and personally developed, there is always a high chance that a host family will be glad to match with you.
Strictly the answer is no. We do not allow any au pairs who matched with us working in another job during her stay here.
Most Turkish families expect you to remove your shoes when entering the house. Indoor slippers are often provided.
Cleaning up after yourself, especially in shared spaces like the kitchen or living room, is expected.
Knock before entering bedrooms or private spaces.
Respectful language, patience, and consistency are valued when interacting with children.
As an au pair agency in Turkey, we carefully handpick and screen all our candidates, both au pairs and host families. To ensure a successful match, never hesitate to ask your host family any questions and make sure you receive clear answers. Always confirm your duties in advance to avoid any surprises after joining the family. If something makes you uncomfortable or you are unsure about any aspect, share it immediately—don’t assume it can be resolved later. If the online meeting feels off in any way, do not think that going in person will automatically solve the issue. Keep exploring other families until you are confident and at least 90% satisfied with their responses.
